Just got back from watching the above mentioned bands in concert. I saw them at the Verizon Wireless Theater. It was overall a good experience for sure. I have seen Underoath in concert before (Vans Warped Tour, 2006, I believe). This was my first time to see August Burns Red, the same statement being true in reference to Emery as well. Here are a few things NOT to do when going to a concert.
1. Show up with just a credit/debit card and NO cash. — Due to the fact that I didn’t think to bring cash for parking… Joey and I had to drive around Houston looking for an ATM machine. As a result, we only got to see Emery’s last two songs. This would normally not be a terrible thing to have missed the opening band had it not been for the fact they were the main group I wanted to see. :( I am not too bent out of shape about it; I will just have to definitely see them the next time they are in the greater Houston area.
2. Show up after the show starts. –This is a given, but it’s what happened. It wasn’t anyones fault really it just happened that way due to unforeseen work circumstances, as well as the traffic. There also was about a 30 minute period we were stuck at a light that was a stone’s throw away from the venue.
3. Crowd surf. –I am not saying I did this, because I most certainly did not. BUT, I mentioned it because I hate crowd surfers. Getting kicked in the back of the head or elbowed in the head due to someone crowd surfing (neither of which happened this time, thankfully) are any fun.
With all that having been said the concert was a lot of fun and I’m glad I got to have a good friend go with me: Joey Roberts… or Broseph Broberts — you decide. I am glad I made myself unavailable tomorrow for work because I am going to be tired and will enjoy sleeping in for the first time in quite a long time.
-=-PS-=- My supper on the way home after the concert tonight consisted of an A&W Cream Soda, Diet Dr. Pepper and Cheddar and Sour Cream flavored Ruffles. Here’s to hoping for a healthier, more complete breakfast in the morning (or early lunch)
